1929 House Renovation

Leicester

6 weeks

Ceiling drywall installation and full bathroom. Plastering package for whole house keeping character features in mind.

Project Overview

This project required an eye for detail. The client asked that the original features of the 1920s home were kept in tact as much as possible.

The project involved a full drywall installation for all ceilings and the bathroom as well as plastering the house top to bottom.

Affected rooms:

  • Entrance

  • Living Room

  • Open plan kitchen/diner

  • Stairway Landing

  • Master Bedroom

  • Spare bedroom

  • Office

  • Bathroom

The house had 2 sets of structural work done, one for knocking the kitchen through to the dining room and another for making the upstairs toilet 1 whole room. We worked with the client to ensure their wishes were kept at all times.

This project had curved ceilings to navigate, parts of the roof entering some rooms which the client requested to keep. This required precision drywall installation to keep the clients happy.

Scope of work

Ceiling Boarding

All ceilings across the property were fully plaster boarded, with boards securely fixed to ceiling joists and structural framing. Particular attention was given to:

  • Correct board alignment

  • Secure screw fixing patterns

  • Strong ceiling support to prevent movement or cracking

Finish Plastering

Following the installation of all plasterboard systems, the entire property was completed with high-quality finish plastering across all walls and ceilings.

This stage involved:

  • Preparation of plasterboard joints and surfaces

  • Application of finishing plaster to all boarded surfaces

  • Careful trowelling to achieve smooth, consistent, decoration-ready finishes The result was a clean, professional finish across approximately 550 square metres of internal surfaces, ready for painting and final interior installation.

Client Name

Dot and Dab Boarding

Plasterboards were installed directly onto masonry walls using the dot and dab method, allowing boards to be securely fixed to brickwork while creating straight, level wall surfaces suitable for finishing.

This approach ensured:

  • Efficient installation across large wall areas

  • Accurate wall alignment

  • A solid base for finish plastering Timber
