Hallway, Staircase & Media Wall Renovation

Wigston

Services required: Stud work and framing, Plasterboarding, Skimming and plastering, Artex ceiling removal (skim over), Media wall construction, Decorative panelling installation

Project Overview:

This project gave the hallway, stairs and landing a complete makeover. The staircase originally ran into the living room behind an open spindle balustrade.

We reframed it into a solid structure with a media wall built into the living room side. We also re-skimmed the old Artex ceilings and fitted acoustic decorative panelling across the living areas.

Scope of work

Staircase Reframe & Media Wall

  • Removed the open spindle balustrade from the staircase and landing

  • Reframed the staircase in timber stud work, enclosing the stairway

  • Built a solid half-wall on the landing in place of the balustrade

  • Built a media wall into the new staircase structure, including:

    • a recessed TV alcove with LED backlighting

    • a letterbox recess for an inset electric fire

    • a lit display niche

  • Hid all cabling and sockets behind the wall

  • Plasterboarded the full structure with metal angle beads on every edge

  • Skimmed to a smooth finish with sharp, square lines
